NBL LAUNCHES 55th HANSA DRAUGHT OKTOBERFEST
On 26 September 2013, Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) - in conjunction with SKW - launched the 55th Hansa Draught Oktoberfest that will take place in Windhoek on the 25th and 26th October 2013.
Norbert Wurm, member of the Oktoberfest organizing committee: "The Oktoberfest was officially opened for the 180th time in Münich last Saturday, 21 September, and our Brew Master, Christian Meuller was fortunate enough to attend this special moment. Here in Namibia the festival is now in its 55th year - that is a 'Schnappszahl' in German and not only is it a lucky number, but also gives testament to the success of this event over the years. Our Oktoberfest draws people from all walks of life across the globe and we are extremely proud to see how popular it has become. This is the 3rd year that NBL and SKW have partnered to bring you this great event that has grown by leaps and bounds - from about 1,000 guests in 2010 to a staggering 5,000 guests in 2013! We expect this number to grow even further, as our Fest gains more popularity." Wurm continued to say that while the Oktoberfest has its roots in Münich - it is the Kirchdorfer that brings the unique Bavarian passion to the Namibian Hansa Draught Oktoberfest. "What makes the Namibian Oktoberfest special is our unique mix of this tradition with our Namibian passion and heritage, our great Namibian people and of course, our quality Namibian beers and cuisine", said Wurm.
In addition, a special limited-edition 5L take-home keg - that would guarantee a freshly-poured Hansa Draught on tap at home - was also launched as part of the popular Hansa Draught Oktoberfest.
NBL Manager: Sponsorships & Events, Ian Stevenson said: "While we have a great range of excellent beer that is brewed here at NBL, I will be presumptuous enough to say that a freshly poured Hansa Draught on tap is the best drinking beer in our stable. It is not only the beer that is so great, but also the fantastic experience of being served this special pour that creates the memorable occasion for friends to always recall and remember. We are therefore pleased to offer you the opportunity of being able to recreate this experience at home where you can entertain your mates and treat them to something similar. As such, we are launching a special limited edition keg tying in to this year's 3rd NBL/SKW Oktoberfest. Being the 3rd year, we have only made 3000 kegs and as such, the design will never be repeated. It is therefore a true collector's item."
Stevenson advised consumers to look out for a scratch-off sticker on the keg on which there is a unique code underneath the scratch-off section. "Consumers can enter the competition by sms'ing the unique code to the number quoted on the keg. Die 55ste Hansa Draught Oktoberfees is onlangs bekendgestel en sal op 25 en 26 Oktober by die SKW-sportgronde plaasvind. Vanjaar word 'n spesiale uitgawe van biervate ook verkoop waarop 'n plakker met 'n unieke kode sal wees. Die kode kan dan gebruik word om deel te neem aan 'n kompetisie deur 'n SMS te stuur. Vir die fees verwag die organiseerders ongeveer 5 000 mense oor die twee dae. Verskeie biersoorte insluitend 'n spesiale “Festbier” en tradisionele Duitse kos sal by die fees beskikbaar wees.

Bier im Maß, Bretz´n, Weißwürste, Obatzda und Schweinshaxe: Am 25. Und 26. Oktober wird beim 55. Hansa Draught-Oktoberfest wieder ein Stück Bayern nach Windhoek geholt. Den Startschuss dazu gaben jetzt die NBL-Brauerei (Namibia Breweries Limited) und der Sportklub Windhoek (SKW). Beide Unternehmen richten das Fest jetzt bereits zum dritten Mal gemeinsam aus.
Christian Müller, Braumeister von NBL, stach das erste Fass des speziellen Festbieres an. Damit sich Fans ihr eigenes kleines Stück Oktoberfest nach Hause holen können, stehen derzeit 3 000 Fünf-Liter-Fässchen mit speziellem Design in den Regalen der Geschäfte. Verbunden ist die Aktion mit einem Gewinnspiel, auf jedem Fässchen findet sich ein Sticker mit einem Gewinncode.
Die Organisatoren des Oktoberfestes erhoffen sich auch in diesem Jahr wieder 5 000 Besucher, die sich unter anderem beim Bogenschießen und Baumstammsägen beweisen können. Für das leibliche Wohl wird mit traditionellen deutschen Speisen wie Hähnchen, Schweinebraten und Lebkuchenherzen gesorgt. Die beliebte Oktoberfestkapelle „Die Kirchdorfer“ aus Deutschland, die auch auf dem Münchner Oktoberfest im bekannten Hacker-Festzelt spielt, sorgt wieder mit Musik für Stimmung. Außerdem spielt die lokale Rockband Famaz Attak.

Wer sich nicht wenigstens an einem der beiden Oktoberfest-Tage zum SKW-Gelände begab, hat mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit etwas verpasst. Die ausgelassene Stimmung auf einem der größten Volksfeste Namibias steckte noch am Montag vielen in den Knochen.
Das 55. Oktoberfest am vergangenen Wochenende im Sportklub Windhoek (SKW) entpuppte sich auch in diesem Jahr als voller Erfolg. An beiden Tagen zog es ca. 5500 Feierfreudige zum Festzelt, Gäste mit Freikarten nicht eingerechnet, und zählte somit knapp 1000 Besucher mehr als vergangenes Jahr. Ihr Ziel, die 5000-Marke erneut zu erreichen, haben die Veranstalter also deutlich übertroffen. „Wir haben nicht erwartet, dass bereits Freitag so viele Leute kommen und vor allem so lange bleiben. Auch am Samstag haben die Gäste große Ausdauer bewiesen und den ganzen Tag ausgelassen gefeiert“, berichtet Norbert Wurm, Mitglied des Oktoberfest-Organisationskomitees.
